Bondage Tapes Vs Handcuffs For BDSM-Bondage Gear

Bondage bdsm

Bondage tapes and handcuffs are a fantastic way to get into bondage play and is the go-to gear for BDSM newbies. A dominant uses it to restrict the movement of their submissive. You can use bondage gear to restrain your Sub’s hands and legs but, also you can use it to reduce movements of the arms, torso, feet, and neck depending on what you and your partner agreed upon together.

There are lots of toys to assist in your play, and I have written some great content on bondage restraints, ball gags, and spanking tools. I must stress that when using any bondage gear ensure that you and your partner have intensive knowledge on how to use them and know the risks. For this post, I’ll focus on the light stuff such as bondage tapes and cuffs so you can find the perfect restraint for your sub.

What is Bondage Tapes?

Bondage tape is thin sheets of self-adhesive PVC; you can use to bind your partner’s hands and feet. Connecting your partner to furniture, blindfolds and even as clothing especially if your partner has a shiny fetish. They are versatile, can wrap around any part of the body and are available in different colors.

Tapes are safe and unlike cuffs or restraints, that has buckles and are sometimes uncomfortable to get out of; these tapes are easy to unwrap or even cut. Unlike regular tape, bondage tape is self-adhesive; this means it has no glue and does not stick to your skin only to itself, this will not harm a hair on your body.

They have no size restriction, apart from other bondage gear that uses Velcro straps or buckles. With bondage tape, because they reside on one large roll, you can use as much tape as you like. Furthermore, they are easy to repair since there is no glue, so if you bind your sub’s hands too tight, you can remove it and reapply the tape looser for a comfortable play.

It’s Reusable….

Don’t get me wrong; handcuffs are fabulous because when your scene has ended, you can quickly put them away but, you can also do this with tape. When you are finished playing, unravel it from your hands or feet and carefully reapply them back to the roll.

These self-adhesive tapes are waterproof and work great for water play and make expensive looking clothing. Especially when you can’t afford new fetish clothing, you can revamp the ones you already have by adding red tape to the sides or make a brand new kinky clothing.

Fetish Fantasy Bondage Tapes

Bondage tape

Fetish fantasy has amazing toys under its belt, and this tape is one of the best out there. This Fetish Fantasy is gentle to the skin and has a lot of stretch which makes binding your sub tighter but, in a way they can easily remove the tape. I will say, that bondage tape is excellent for light play and if you are going for a more extreme scene then restrains, or ropes are your best bet.

Pros

  • Pretty color.
  • Reusable.
  • Soft to the skin.

Cons

  • It rolls up on its self.

Or Would You Rather Handcuffs?

But, I’m talking about the fluffy handcuffs, check out the video below to learn about the “other” cuffs. I would not use any other than a fluffy handcuff.

The reason I love both bondage tape and handcuffs because they are cheap and are less than $10.00. Cuffs do the same thing as the tape that is restrained your sub’s hands. I often see them as a novelty product but, and most experience kinksters wouldn’t use them unless their sub requested them. They bind your sub tighter than the bondage tape and has a release key and stopper so you wouldn’t push it to snug on your partner’s hand.

The fluffy handcuff has a safety switch at the side encase you lose the keys, or wants are quick release when there is an emergency. However, not all cuff comes with these features.

Bondage Tape Is Safer

Bondage Tape is safer than handcuffs especially if your submissive loves to wiggle. Handcuffs can get even tighter cutting out the circulation from their hands. You can not use cuffs as much as you can use tape as I mention above, you can make kinky clothing from bondage tape. You can even bind your sub’s hands to their thighs- it all depends on your imagination or how skillful your Dom is.

Bondage Safety

After all, BDSM is Sane, Safe and Consensual and bondage like many things has its risk. Here are some safety tips to keep in mind;

  • Never leave a bound person alone.
  • Don’t interfere with someone’s breathing by placing pressure on the throat, needless to say, don’t put anything around the neck that is not designed for that area.
  • Never have someone who is standing up hands and feet bound without having them secured to something to break their fall.
  • Do not cut bondage tape with a knife. There are special scissors design for this.
  • Avoid doing any bondage if you haven’t appropriately slept, eaten, or too stress out. Save these play for another day when you are ready for it.
  • Don’t do anything to your partner without he/she consent.

Which do you prefer? Bondage tapes or handcuffs both are easy to use and is beginners friendly. They are cheap and reusable but; the tape is versatile and can use as a mouth gag or cover the eyes. Some consider cuffs to be dangerous to use.
